A great takeaway burger is a simple thing to describe but surprisingly hard to find. The basics: a bun that holds together, protein cooked properly, and a sauce worth talking about. In Coolum Beach, these basics are rarer than they should be. The CHIBURS Chi-Burger exists because I wanted to fix that.
Hand-battered chicken thigh fillet, house slaw, house aioli on a brioche bun — the best takeaway burger in Coolum Beach. Pickup or DoorDash. Open Wed–Sun from 5 PM.
The Chi-Burger is built around a hand-battered chicken thigh fillet — not a pre-formed patty, not a compressed piece of mystery chicken. A real thigh, brined for 2+ hours in the house marinade, hand-battered to order, and fried until the coating is shatteringly crisp and the meat inside is cooked through but still juicy.
The difference between thigh and breast in a chicken burger matters more than most people realise. Breast is leaner but dries out fast — the window between "cooked" and "overcooked" is about 30 seconds at high heat. Thigh has enough fat marbling to stay moist even if cooking runs a little long. In a busy kitchen, that margin is the difference between a consistently great burger and a coin flip.
The whole thing is assembled to order. Nothing sits under a heat lamp.
Most takeaway burgers fail at the 10-minute mark. The bun goes soggy, the coating loses its crunch, the sauce pools at the bottom. By the time most people get home, they're eating a different (worse) version of what came out of the kitchen.
At CHIBURS, we've engineered the burger to travel. The double-fry on the chicken creates a thicker, more stable crust that holds up for longer than a standard single-fry. The slaw is dressed more lightly than you'd think — heavy dressing looks great in the kitchen but turns into a puddle in a bag. The brioche bun is toasted on the inside face to create a moisture barrier between the bun and the fillings.
None of this is magic. It's just paying attention to the 15 minutes after the burger leaves the kitchen, not just the moment it's assembled.
The easiest way to order is online at chiburs.com. Choose your items, enter your name and email, pay by card. The kitchen starts cooking immediately, and we'll email you when your order is ~5 minutes from ready. No queuing, no waiting at the counter — just park, walk in, and pick up your bag.
For delivery, CHIBURS is on DoorDash. The burger travels well. The wings are best picked up if you can.
CHIBURS operates out of Unit 7 / 1796 David Low Way, Coolum Beach — inside the Sushi Ari kitchen space. There's parking directly in front of the building. When you arrive, look for the CHIBURS sign at the entrance.
The David Low Way address puts us right in the heart of the Coolum Beach dining strip, about 200 metres from the beach. It's a 2-minute drive from the main Coolum Beach carpark.
